Fans can get indignant when their favorite movies are passed over during awards season—and rightfully so. Some of the biggest directors in film have had their best movies snubbed, from Alfred Hitchcock to Stanley Kubrick to Spike Lee.

These Best Picture Oscar burns, selected from decades of cinema by CineFix, were painful enough to be felt through the ages.

Hillary Clinton to young girls: ‘You are more than the way you look’


Hillary Clinton is tired of the body-shaming that makes girls and women feel ashamed — and she wants people to “stand up” against it. 

The Democratic presidential candidate delivered that impassioned plea at a town hall in Haverford, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday when a 15-year-old girl asked Clinton how she’d undo some of the “damage” inflicted by Donald J. Trump during this campaign. 

“At my school, body image is a really big issue for girls my age,” said Brennan Leach. “I see with my own eyes the damage Donald Trump does when he talks about women and how they look. As the first female president, how would you undo some of that damage and help girls understand that they are so much more than just what they look like?”  Read more…

A Florida youth football team produced the most delightful highlight you’ll see this season


Who needs the NFL when you’ve got the WCFL? 

That’s the Western Communities Football League, a youth football organization in Florida that just produced one of the goofiest, most delightful pigskin highlights you’ll see this season. 

You know this is going to be good because it starts with a flea-flicker, in which the quarterback hands off to the running back, who then pitches the ball back to the quarterback. In this case, though, the flea-flicker is just the beginning. 

Our quarterback, who plays for the WCFL’s Pro Titans, according to the video’s YouTube description, then looks downfield for the big strike. He launches a rainbow toward the end zone.  Read more…
